Caitlin Wachs

Caitlin stars in the movie My Dog Skip, which also stars Kevin Bacon. It was filmed in late 1998, but wasn't released until March 3, 2000. Caitlin played Rivers Applewhite in the film, her first feature. It wasn't a minor role, but a fairly significant one. She was listed fourth in the opening credits. We're sure it won't be her last big film. In the beginning of the movie, Willie had no friends. Bullies at school picked on him, leaving him feeling alone. Then things changed and the same bullies who had been his enemies, became his friends.

The majority of Rivers' scenes were with Willie. Caitlin's costar has just made it big on the small screen. Frankie Muniz from Malcolm in the Middle is the star of the film, playing Willie. {My Dog Skip pictures are courtesy Uby's Young Stars and mydogskip.com}

Rivers watched show and tell with the other students in her class. Willie brought a number of German military items that Dink had sent him. Many students in the class didn't believe that they were real, but Rivers' believed him. The role of Rivers required Caitlin to wear period costumes, since the film looked back at Willie's childhood in the 40s. Skip brought Willie and Rivers together. Willie had always been a loner, but getting that dog for his 9th birthday changed his life. Skip helped him talk to people that he never would have approached, like Rivers. {My Dog Skip pictures are courtesy Uby's Young Stars and mydogskip.com}

Willie and Rivers shared a love for great books. He gave her Huckelberry Finn and she gave him Caddie Woodlawn. Each described their book as one where the main child has lots of exciting adventures. {My Dog Skip pictures are courtesy Uby's Young Stars and mydogskip.com}

Willie, Rivers, and the rest of their friends met at the bus station to welcome home the town's hero, Dink Jenkins, from World War II. Unfortunately, Willie's idol had hit bad times and didn't return home immediately. {My Dog Skip pictures are courtesy Uby's Young Stars and mydogskip.com}

The dog who plays Skip is Enzo, the son of Moose, who plays Eddie on TV's Frasier. Enzo of course needed a stand in when he'd been working long hours, so Moose filled in for him. {My Dog Skip pictures are courtesy Uby's Young Stars and mydogskip.com}

For the first time in a while, Caitlin doesn't have any new projects in the works.
