Chelsea Blaine Butler landed the role
of Belle in August of 1998. The first time we saw her as Belle was on
The Howie Mandel Show. She was on with her TV brother Brady,
played by twins Eric and Brandon Billings. Chelsea took over the role
of Belle from Kayley and Ashlyn Messick.

Chelsea's first acting role
was in the January 1998 movie Deceiver. She was
Chelsea Kennesaw, the daughter of Michael Rooker {R} and
Rosanna Arquette's {L}
characters.

Chelsea filmed the role on
location in Charleston, S.C. one month prior to her third
birthday.
Chelsea was not the only
Butler family member in the film. Her older sister, Gena,
played Mary Kennesaw {R} and her father, Bill, was the
director of photography for the film.
Chelsea was eating spaghetti
with her fingers. She was having lots of fun with it. She'd
hold it over her mouth and then drop it in, or hold her head
sideways and shove it in from the side.
During filming Chelsea downed
the whole bowl of spaghetti during 13 takes, starting at
8:00 a.m. Everyone was surprised she sat down long enough to
eat and was so attentive during the scene. She ad-libbed the
line "Have fun daddy" when she looked at Michael Rooker.
Originally she did not have dialogue. The directors loved
what she did and left it in the film.
Chelsea looked up at her daddy
while she chomped away, holding a noodle in her mouth. He
made some chomping faces back at her.
This was the first time we saw
Chelsea as Belle. She was a guest on The Howie Mandel Show.
Chelsea was very outgoing and was smiling all the
time.
We just can't get enough of
this pretty little girl and her big smile.
Chelsea came bouncing in with
Deidre Hall. They were greeting Sami, who was getting ready
for her wedding.
Marlena asked Belle "What do
you think about Sami's dress?" She was actually just wearing
the veil. Belle {Chelsea} replied "She looks like
Cinderella." Everyone got a kick out of this comment.
This was Chelsea's first big
scene. She was shown with her on screen family. Mom:
Marlena, half-sister: Sami, her half-brother Eric's
girlfriend Nicole, also Grandma: Caroline. Chelsea has
already become very close to all of her castmates. They have
all welcomed her with open arms. She is the seventh actress
to play 'Belle.' The only single actress to play the role.
Three pairs of twins played 'Belle' first.
John offered to take Brady
{Eric} and Belle ice skating after school. Chelsea was very
excited in this scene, yelling out "Yeah." She really wanted
to go skating.
Everyone was at the pub for
the 1998 Christmas celebration. Chelsea was tired, so she
rested on Dee's shoulder. Chelsea's call times would vary,
as they did for all the children. Sometimes she'd have to be
awakened from a nap to go onto the set to tape.
Sami was thanking the family
for standing by her as she was accused for Franco's murder.
Chelsea would pop up, adjust her position in Dee's arms,
listen for a bit and then...
her head would be right back
on Dee's shoulder. She was always listening to the
conversation, but just couldn't sustain enough energy to
keep her head up. Deidre didn't seem to mind.
Marlena's penthouse was filled
with children during the Christmas holidays in 1998. Brady
{Brandon}, Belle and Will {Taylor} all had a visit from
Santa at the penthouse. They spent time decorating the tree,
making cookies, and being with their
family. {photo

In early 1999, Chelsea filmed
a commercial for Intel's new Pentium III processor. She was
one of five kids who appeared in the commercial. Here,
Chelsea (in front) and the other children are running toward
the door to let them into the world of the Pentium III.
Chelsea arrived at the door
first, then jumped up in excitement. She and the other
children took a second to look in awe at the door.
The final tagline of the
commercial, "Don't just get on the Internet, get into it."
That's exactly what the kids did, becoming part of the web
browser.
