Benjy told his grandpa Orion goodbye. Benjy signed, "I love you too grandpa." On the left, you see him signing "love," while on the right, he's signing "grandpa."

This was the scene that was shown at the Daytime Emmys when Darrell was nominated.

Darrell was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in 1989 in the Outstanding Juvenile Male category. Although he lost to Justin Gocke from Santa Barbara, he seemed to enjoy being dressed up for the important event.

Peggie Renya {Peggy} joined Darrell at the ceremony and interpreted for him throughout the show. Here, he was listening to Jim Henson speak about Joan Ganz Cooney, one of the creators of Sesame Street.

Benjy was in Steve and Kayla's second wedding in August of 1990.

This was the last time Stephen and Darrell were together. Darrell left the role of Benjy shortly after this photo was taken. Stephen had the picture of him and Darrell blown up just for Darrell.

We last saw Benjy at Steve's funeral in 1990. He spoke about Steve, and Kayla interpreted for the audience.

He came to the funeral with his teacher, Peggie. She interpreted for him, while everyone else spoke about Steve.

Darrell guest starred on Pacific Blue as Henry. The episode was titled "Broken Dreams." All of the extras in this episode were also hearing impaired. Darrell is pictured here with another hearing impaired actress, Terrylene. {Photos courtesy Deaf Entertainment Online, The Official Pacific Blue website, and Hollywood Deafies}

This is one of the most recent pics we have found of Darrell. It looks like it might be a school picture. Darrell was about 16 years old in 1997.
