After a car ride away from the airport, Larry brought Zack and Hope into a dark, dungeon-like room. Zack was already in the room in the playpen when Larry entered with Hope. Garrett watched her being carried in and got down in the playpen as if he was hiding from the man in the ski mask. After setting Hope down, Larry went by the playpen and waved at Zack. Then we saw Hope tied up on the floor and Zack in the playpen, looking at her. {10/18/02} |

The next time we saw the two of them, Zack was in the playpen crying, now realizing he wanted his mom. Hope began to wake up as she heard his crying. She started working to untie herself and remove the blindfold. Garrett was truly crying in the playpen. He had seen the "guy in the ski mask" and told his mom, "it's too scary." He wanted no part of it. {10/18/02} |

Zack continued crying but Hope finally got the gag out of her mouth and she started talking to him to comfort him, saying it was going to be OK. She got to the playpen and took Zack out. Spencer had now replaced Garrett and he wasn't actually crying at all. {10/18/02} |

Hope picked Zack up and said, "See, mommy promised you she'd be right here baby." She couldn't stop hugging and kissing him. She asked, "are you OK?" and answered, "yeah" herself. Then Kristian asked again, "are you OK?" Spencer answered, "Yeah." She repeated what he said, saying, "yeah...of course you are sweetie." {10/18/02} |

Hope told Zack she was very proud of him for being go good through everything. Then it sunk in what she was dealing with. Both of them looked toward the door and Hope said, "Oh god." {10/18/02} |

Hope went over to the door and felt for a doorknob. Of course there wasn't one. She looked at Zack and said, "This is a pretty funny house, isn't it Zack?" She continued, "No doorknobs...it must be locked from outside. Spencer had several different looks on his face as Kristian talked. He was trying to figure out the situation also. {10/18/02} |

Hope told Zack they needed to sit down for a second. They sat on the make-shift bed that had been made for Hope on the floor. Not wanting to frighten Zack, Hope started talking to herself in her head. She remembered getting the phone call that JT was sick again and deciding to leave the airport, but nothing after that. She realized she must have been drugged and assumed that it must be the DiMeras. She held Zack close and said, "they want to take you back and give you back to Lexie." {10/18/02} |

In the next scene, Hope and Zack were walking around. She was trying to figure out where they were and what was there. She said, "No windows in the bathroom or out here..." She continued, "Whoever locked that door from the outside is probably still around." She asked Zack to "listen to mommy." Then she said they needed to be "very very quiet." Spencer put his finger up to his lip and said, "Shhhh! Quiet." Then she put her finger up to her lip too and told him again to be quiet. Spencer's performance in this scene was praised by his costar. When asked about working with the boys, Kristian referred to the scene, saying, "Those boys are as smart as a whip." {10/18/02} |
Hope was sure Zack {Spencer} understood now, so she gave him a kiss and they headed across the room. Kristian is again renewing her bond with Garrett and Spencer. Andrew Masset {Larry} and Garrett and Spencer have been her only costars since her return. In between takes she tries to keep the boys occupied, by playing or doing "little dances." However, her newborn son is named Jack and she finds herself often calling them Jack instead of Zack. {10/18/02, info from SOW} |

Hope and Zack headed over to a cabinet. They looked inside to find several changes of clothing and lots of food. Hope realized it was enough to keep them alive for a long period of time. She pulled out one of the items, noting it was one of Zack's favorites. Again, she figured this meant Lexie must have been the mastermind of the kidnapping. {10/18/02} |
Hope set Zack up on a shelf and said, "all we have to do is wait for daddy to find us." Zack {Spencer} nodded. Hope replied, "OK?" Zack said, "OK" and nodded again. Hope repeated his OK, then said, "we'll think of it as a big game of hide and seek, OK?" Zack again nodded and said, "OK." Hope nodded and again said, "OK" before pulling him in for a hug. Many of these responses from Kristian are adlibbed in response to the boys. Like most parents, she repeats what they say before responding. {10/18/02} |
Hope again looked at the cabinet and thought about how long they could be there, since there was so much stuff and no way out. Spencer threw up his arms for Kristian to take him off the shelf. She grabbed him and they walked across the room. {10/18/02} |
Back on the bed on the floor, Hope thought more to herself about who was behind the kidnapping. She wondered why the DiMeras would have taken her with Zack, or why Lexie wouldn't have just killed her and taken Zack if that's what she wanted. {10/18/02} |
Later Hope went over to the crib and told a sleeping Zack, "Everything is going to be OK...I won't let them take you away from me Zack, no matter what I have to do." She told him to just stay asleep so she could put her plan into action. Spencer was doing his best to pretend to sleep. You could see his eyes were just a bit open. The producers knew this scene was ahead and asked the kids to practice sleeping, a nearly impossible task for 2 1/2 year olds, especially under bright lights on stage. {10/18/02} |

This was the poster printed up to help get info on the kidnapping. Bo was at the Iowa police station where trying to help detectives figure out what had happened. They said these had been put all over the airport and would also be put around town. {10/18/02} |
