Paige and Ryanne Kettner

Paige and Ryanne (pictured here) were in the Steven Spielberg movie How to Make an American Quilt in 1994. They were 3 years old when it was filmed. It was released when they were 4.

The girls played Little Evie. The movie also starred Winona Ryder. They were in one scene and had no lines. Ryanne made a little fish fly around, then dropped it in the turkey.

Paige {R} and Ryanne {L} at the Days 1994 anniversary party. This was their first Days event. They had just started filming a few days before the party. Although these girls got an early start in showbiz, they don't "speak the business" like many child actors. Their parents don't ever say to them that they're going on an audition. They always "go off to 'pretend we're somebody else today.'" Their parents believe that it's the "pretending that's the event, not a test."

This was the Kettners first scene, December 20, 1994. Alice, Jennifer and Abby were seeing the sights at Salem Place, as it had just been decorated for Christmas.

Ryanne spotted Santa and started talking to him, even though he was at least 10 feet away from her.

Ryanne was talking very loudly since Santa was so far away. Missy, Jason and Frances were talking and Ryanne was carrying on with Santa. We could just hear bits and pieces of what she was saying, but she didn't seem too sure that he was the real Santa. She asked why he was wearing those gloves. She said he didn't need them because there wasn't any snow.

The adults couldn't ignore Ryanne's talking anymore. Jason finally got down and asked Ryanne what she was doing. He realized she had been talking to Santa.

Peter and Jennifer asked Abby {Ryanne} if they wanted to go and see Santa. She did, of course, so they headed over.

Abby {Ryanne} went to sit with Santa, then an elf asked if "mom and dad" wanted to get in the picture. Jennifer and Peter said "sure," not correcting the elf's mistake.

Jennifer had some Christmas shopping to finish, so she left Abby {Ryanne} with Peter.

Jennifer had to reach way up to kiss Abby in Peter's arms.

As Peter, Jennifer and Abby walked through Salem Place, they spotted Laura. She had just returned from The Meadows, to be with her family for the holidays.

Abby had really grown since Laura had last seen her. Although Laura had only been gone for a month or so, Abby had gotten about two years older!

The first thing Ryanne said when Jaime Lyn picked her up was, "I just saw you." Jaime Lyn just laughed. It obviously wasn't scripted because Abby hadn't seen Laura. Ryanne was probably referring to meeting Jaime Lyn shortly before taping. It was very obvious that this was the Kettner's first day on the show. They were really trying to check things out, asking a lot of questions and commenting about everything that went on. They didn't do this onscreen much longer, once they had adjusted to their new job and the new people around them.

Laura was happy to see her granddaughter.

Ryanne was busy checking things out around her, rather than looking at Jaime Lyn.
