Joshua {L} and Jacob {R} were featured on the cover of their home town paper, "Sunday Press-Telegram" on July 2, 2001. The boys had just been let go from DAYS because they were "too healthy" for the role of JT. The article was written by Luanne J. Hunt, who followed the boys on their last day at the studio. Which at the time no one knew would be their last time. {Photo courtesy the Rips family}

Pictured here, the Rips Family, left to right: Lauren holding Jacob and Jeffery holding Joshua, and big sister Eliana.
Lauren and Jeffery were not too sure about their children being stars. They decided that they would try it out and if it didn't work then they would quit. When they went to DAYS for the casting call, they basically walked in and the Days execs looked at them and said, "OK, they've got the part." Jacob and Joshua received star treatment. Each day their designer wardrobes were laid out in perfect fashion and each child was equipped with a variety of bibs, bottles and blankets for them to use., although Jacob and Joshua used their own favorite blue blankets on the set. Jacob shot the last scenes because they needed a crying baby first and then needed a sleeping baby for the second scene. He was what they needed both times.

Jacob {L} and Joshua {R} at just 2 months old were unemployed. The boys had been away from the studio for 2 weeks, and when they returned at 8 weeks old they were much bigger and looking way too healthy to play a sick baby. Their mom Lauren received a call several days later at home. They were going to recast JT because Jacob and Joshua were too healthy looking for the role. It was a bit of a let down, but for Lauren and Jeffery they would rather have healthy babies than sick ones. {photo copyright the Rips family}

Jacob {L} and Joshua {R} at 3 months old they were unemployed and loving it. During their time away from DAYS they went to a few other casting calls, but didn't book any jobs. {photo copyright the Rips family}

Jacob {L} and Joshua {R} at 5 months old, just two months before they returned to DAYS, being the first babies to ever return to a soap opera role. We were so excited about their return. They fit in the role perfectly since returning, so it is like they never left. {photo copyright the Rips family}

Once again Joshua {pictured here} and Jacob are pictured on the cover of a magazine before they appear on DAYS. Joshua and Jacob returned to the role of J.T. on December 20, 2000. For whatever reason, the powers that be at DAYS thought the boys should come back as J.T. They have replaced Brenden and Dillon Fisher, who replaced them in July 2000. We are happy to have them back at DAYS. They have grown so much since they were last on the show. Look at all that hair! Photo courtesy of Soap Opera Update, Vol. XIV No. 1

Jacob was called on for J.T.'s grand finale at the party. He entered the party and greeted his "Dad" Bo. Grandma/Aunt Julie brought him in. This was the boys' first scene back. {12/20&21/00}
