Paul checked "Teddy" out of the hospital and took him home. He planned to get out of town with the boy as soon as possible.
"Teddy" smiled in his highchair as Paul made plans to get out of town. He was smiling at someone offstage.
Teddy watched as his dad made arrangements on the phone. He had watched his mom do the same thing just a few weeks earlier.
Paul told "Teddy," "No one is ever going to take you away from me." We then saw Andrew and Paul leave their house with a suitcase, so we assumed they were headed out of town.
However, the next scene we saw was Shane opening the door to find Paul there with Andrew. Shane was stunned.
Andrew looked at Shane as a virtual stranger. The only father Andrew had known was Paul.
Paul gave Andrew one last kiss, then handed him over to Shane. Kimberly was in the next room and had no idea who had just arrived at the door.
As a distraught Kimberly turned around to see who was at the door, this was the first sight she saw--her son and his father {Shane, Charles Shaugnessy} reunited at last.
Kimberly {Patsy Pease} holds her son for the first time in nearly a year. Robert was just a few seconds away from tears in this scene because Patsy was squeezing him so hard.
Shane had a surprise for Kim and Andrew upstairs. He had decorated a nursery in recent weeks, knowing that they were close to bringing Andrew home. Kimberly was amazed that Shane had done all this work.
Shane had lots of things to show Andrew and Kim in the nursery. He had bought Andrew both a cricket bat and ball and a "slugger and a mitt," to make Grandpa Shawn happy.
Shane showed Kim and Andrew lots of toys, but the penguin chute was everyone's favorite, including Shane's. He and Gillian had run the batteries down trying it out, so he just had to demonstrate it by hand. Andrew watched closely.
Shane made the penguin climb up the steps, then let it go, making it slide down the chute. He even made sound effects as the penguin slid down. Kim spoke for Andrew, saying, "He likes that."
Kim was happy for the first time in months. She said to Shane, "He's really home. You brought him home to me."
Gillian {Camilla More} came in to visit Andrew. Kim introduced Andrew to the "nice lady who helped find him and bring him home." Kim had no idea that it was Gillian who had framed her for the murder.
Gillian asked Andrew what kind of diapers he wanted. Robert pointed off stage. Patsy {Kim} said, "He wants the ones over there." Yet another example of quick thinking with a baby.
Kim said to Shane, "Isn't this the most perfect baby you've ever seen?" Of course Shane responded, "I think he's the most perfect baby I've ever seen." In nearly every scene with Robert at about age one, he had a bottle in his mouth. In those scenes where he didn't, he was often fussy. He seemed to grow out of that stage though, later being fairly content without a bottle.
The family was so happy. Andrew didn't even seem to mind that his parents were people he barely knew.
Kim and Shane put Andrew down in his crib, but he immediately popped back up and clung on to his mom. When Shane went to get him a bottle, he was content to lay in his crib instead.
After Kim and Shane went to bed, Andrew started crying. While they knew they shouldn't go and get him, they couldn't resist. They brought him into their bed with his bottle and he was very happy.
