Scott Groff played the role of Shawn-Douglas for 5 years. He started at the age of 5 1/2 and left the role when he was 11. Just before landing the role on Days, he was seen in the film Funny About Love as Jake. He worked with two different actors as his father, Bo. He started with Peter Reckell playing his on-screen father, and when he left the show, Robert Kelker-Kelly was playing his on-screen father. You can find his full list of credits since leaving Days at Beth's Where are they Now? Page.

Scott's first big acting job was in the movie Funny About Love where he played Jake. The movie starred Gene Wilder and Christine Lahti and was released in September 1990. This was his first scene. He was at his grandmother's funeral and was being chased by his cousin who had a water gun and was squirting him. He was running to his Uncle Duffy {Gene} for help.

Jake grabbed Duffy's leg and then Duffy picked him up and rocked him as he cried. Soon, Duffy was crying too. He wanted to have a child of his own.

This was Scott's biggest scene, where he had a number of lines. He rode in a boat with his Uncle Duffy and Aunt Meg {Christine}.

Christine started tickling Scott. He seemed to have fun.

When his grandfather got remarried, the family celebrated with him. Jake {Scott} watched his cousin Roger {Robert Gorman} stick his finger into the icing and take a few licks. Jake decided he'd let his cousin get in trouble, so he just watched. Scott loved Peter Reckell's motorcycle. He was even more in love with it after he got a ride around the DAYS parking lot. It was a big and little boys' toy.

Hope's memorial service was about to start, but Shawn Douglas and Bo had other plans. Shawn D came onto the deck of the boat with his fishing reel and asked, "Can we go now?"
Bo told Shawn Douglas that he would catch the biggest fish ever.

Bo taught Shawn Douglas how to cast his reel. While he enjoyed teaching his son to fish, this was therapy for Bo, who was trying to deny Hope's death.

Shawn Douglas and Bo remembered when they had tried to teach Hope how to fish. She didn't have very much success.

Bo continually told Shawn Douglas what they would do when Hope "got back." He hadn't yet told Shawn Douglas that his mother was dead.

Bo told Shawn Douglas that they'd teach Hope how to cast when she got back.

Bo pulled out a picture of Hope that was in the tackle box. He asked Shawn Douglas if he missed her. He nodded his head, "Yes."

Bo told Shawn Douglas they'd find a special frame for the picture. Shawn Douglas said, "That's OK. I'll keep it here, right by my heart" as he put the picture into his pocket.

Alice left the memorial service to come and find Bo and Shawn Douglas. She knew exactly where to find them. She recognized that they were having a wonderful time.
Of course Alice convinced Bo to come to the memorial. As Bo went up to speak about Hope, he asked Shawn Douglas to sit with his grandma.

In his speech, Bo said that Hope wasn't dead. He knew she was alive and he was going to keep looking for her, so his boy could have his mama back.
