We continue our goodbye to Spencer, Garrett and Mitchell Gray with an update of exclusive photos. We are also announcing a video contest. The tragedy of Zack's death hit many Days fans, especially Bo and Hope fans, right in the gut. We'd like to give you a chance to take the emotion that you feel for the characters and turn it into something creative. The Spencer, Garrett and Mitchell Gray Official website is sponsoring a video tribute contest to honor the character of Beauregard Isaac Theo "Zack" Brady. We are asking you to submit your multimedia creations for review. They will be judged based on their "tribute" value and how they honor the character of Zack. Basically, if they bring on the tears, that's a GOOD thing!

Please post all submissions to the Children of Salem Discussion Forum by February 28 or email them to Beth. Winners will be notified in the middle of March. All prizes are exclusive to this contest. They are to be awarded as follows:

  • 1ST PLACE: Exclusive video created for you by the Gray boys
  • 2ND PLACE: Artistic creations by Spencer, Garrett and Mitchell
  • 3RD PLACE: An autographed picture of the boys

Get busy creating!

Please email Beth with any questions

Today we begin with a large update for Spencer, Garrett and Mitchell Gray, in honor of their 4 1/2 years on the show. We've added many of their final scenes, as well as some other special moments through the years. More will follow in upcoming weeks. If you'd like to show your support of them and the character of Zack, you might want to display one of our Gray or Zack banners, seen here. You can also leave them a goodbye message in our forum.

In honor of Alice Horton, we have chosen not to update any individual pages this week. Instead, we will honor her by paying tribute to all of the children's lives she touched in Salem.

This week we mourn the loss of Salem's favorite grandmother. Caroline Brady has always been a Grandma to all, taking care of not only her grandchildren, but the children of friends. She will surely be missed by anyone who has enjoyed time with "Grandma Caroline." Feel free to borrow our banner and link it back to our site, http://www.childrenofsalem.com

From now on, announcements about children's appearances, airdates, etc. will appear in our message forum. Please check it regularly for updates.

One Life to Live is keeping the Buchanan dynasty alive. Canadian native Bree Williamson has assumed the role of Jessica Buchanan from the departing Erin Torpey, who played the character for more than a decade. Williamson will have a lot of family drama to contend with when she takes on the part: Jessica's stepfather, Ben, is in a coma; her mother still battles multiple personalities and her birth father is the evil cult leader Mitch Laurence. Williamson recently guest starred as Miranda Davis on an episode of Mutant X. She also plays the leading role in Izidore Musallam's Adam and Eve, scheduled to debut at the 2003 Toronto Film Festival. "Bree possesses a distinctive star quality," says the actress's rep. "We are very excited for her as she embarks on this next step of her career as a regular player on OLTL." Williamson premieres on OLTL on Feb. 5, two days after her on-screen brother, Joey Buchanan, returns home. (info from tvguide.com)

More soap casting news from TVGuide.com...

Right on the heels of bringing Robyn Richards back to play Maxie on GH, the show has hired J. Evan Bonifant (who apparently has now dropped the J) and Lindze Letherman to play an aged Lucas and Georgie. Evan was last seen on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In 1999, Lindze appeared on Passions as Rosie, the little girl who doll-napped Timmy.

Colby and Grayson Button portray Baby Logan on B&B on August 8

July 28

From Soapcity.com...
Just like her pal, Tammy (who is now being played by Stephanie Gatschet), Guiding Light's Lizzie Spaulding will experience a growth spurt this summer when preteen actress Mackenzie Mauzy is replaced by slightly older teen Allison Hirschlag. Allison, whose past credits include working as a student director at the Dwight-Englewood Theatre, has soap opera acting in her blood. Her mother is two time Daytime Emmy Award winner Julia Barr, who began playing Brooke on All My Children in 1976. Julia's real life pregnancy with Allison was written into the show when Brooke was pregnant with her daughter, Laura. So you could say Allison was acting on daytime before she was even born! Allison spent last summer, following her junior year in high school, studying drama and English literature at Oxford University. As part of her summer program, Allison starred as Olivia in a student production of Twelfth Night. Mom Julia confides that Allison is also a "wonderful writer," so show biz may have another Carrie Fisher or Emma Thompson on its hands.

July 21

There were some important developments in casting on the soaps this week. GH has realized their error in aging Maxie. Robyn Richards, who played the role from 1993-2002 will return later this summer. Also, Petey Cortlandt, the never-seen son of Palmer and Opal has been recast. Mitchel Federan will first be seen as Petey on July 30, replaced Casey Gunther. He apparently will be quite a handful for his parents. Also, as previously announced, Jason Olive will begin appearing this week as Frank Hubbard, son of Jesse and Angie. On ATWT, Craig Lawlor returns as Adam Hughes later this summer for a brief stint.

Shawn and Taylor Carpenter (Will)--Pages 1, 9, 10, 11, 43. 44, 46, 50, 53, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61

We say goodbye to Shawn and Taylor Carpenter this week with a large update on their page. They are the longest-running child actors in Days' history, playing the role of Will for 6 1/2 years. They have been a part of huge storylines and will be sorely missed. We encourage you to visit their pages to remember their impact on Salem. To the right are some interesting facts about their time on Days

  • Shawn and Taylor are the longest-running continuous child actors in the history of Days.
  • Shawn and Taylor have played Will for 6 1/2 years, beginning when they were 6 weeks old.
  • Shawn and Taylor are the only actors to originate a role as a baby on Days and play him into his school years.
  • Shawn and Taylor, though never on contract with the show officially, appeared onscreen more often than several contract players during various years on the show. Here is a timeline of their work on Days:
    • In 1995, they had 10 appearances, beginning after the November 16 birth of Will
    • In 1996, the year of the kidnapping storyline, they had 101 appearances, out of a total of about 250 episodes of Days.
    • In 1997, the year Sami was paralyzed and had amnesia, before Will's parentage was finally revealed, they had 68 appearances.
    • In 1998, they had 65 appearances, including Lucas' "airplane accident" with Will, which Sami said was abuse.
    • In 1999, the year Sami was nearly executed for Franco's murder, they had 64 appearances through September.
    • In 2000, they had only 23 appearances, as Will began to disappear onscreen, not playing a significant role in Sami's life anymore, now that there was no more custody battle.
    • In 2001, the year Will was stateside as Sami was off on adventures such as Greta's coronation, where she was seeking "the tape", they had only 19 appearances.
    • In 2002, they had 29 appearances, including their final show on July 2 as Will had a significant role in helping Lucas emerge from his coma.

(Thanks to Jason47 for appearance stats)

On Wednesday, May 1, following the departure of Jacob and Joshua Rips as JT, we will post a special update as a tribute to them. Numerous scenes will be added to their pages, as well as pics from their last show after it airs that day. Please check back on Wednesday night for our special tribute to the boys. If you haven't done so, please leave a message for the boys in their goodbye book.

  In Memory...
