Claire had a rough start in life. Her mother, Belle, suffered postpartum depression. Just as she was getting better, Claire became sick for an unknown reason. Eventually her liver failed and she was given last rites. In a horrible twist of fate, Claire's uncle, Zack, was killed in a hit and run. His liver saved her life. {pic by JPI, courtesy soapcity.com}

Philip and Belle were so excited when Claire was finally taken off life support. They hadn't held their daughter in months. {pic by JPI, courtesy soapcity.com}

Claire and Belle stayed at Bo and Hope's soon after they moved out of the loft. Belle spent time trying to teach Claire about her "new" daddy, Shawn. Claire listened and smiled. {12.18.06}

Claire was eating a cracker and smiling the whole time. She nearly said "Daddy." {12.18.06}

On the ABC show "What about Brian?" Ava and Olivia play a little girl named Carrie. Carrie is the daughter of Dave, the main character's co worker and friend. In this scene Carrie's parents were rushing her to the ER in the middle of the night because of a fever. Carrie just had an implant surgery to help her hearing improve. The ER doctor quickly looked at the girl and told the parents the implant was not working. He explained that Carrie has an ear infection and as of right now she can not hear. {03.05.07}

Carrie's mom was not willing to believe her daughter was deaf. So the next morning she made an appointment with the ear doctor. Carrie's dad was playing with her and showing her sign language. Carrie's mom was not happy about that. She was in complete denial about the hearing loss. {03.05.07}

Carrie's dad took her from her mom and was showing her how to make a letter H in sign language. Carrie was watching very closely. {03.05.07}

In the appointment the doctor comfirmed what the ER doctor told Carrie's parents...she is indeed deaf. Carrie's mom was very upset by this news. But she is willing to do anything to help her daughter. {03.05.07}

After jumping off the ship. Shawn, Belle and Claire ended up on an island. A storm was moving in yet again. Belle was worried about Claire because her cut was not doing well. Shawn said he would make a boat for them to go to another island...one with people and a doctor. {03.06.07}

Belle was very worried that Shawn wasn't going to be able to make a boat. She was very scared and it was starting to scare Claire, too. {03.06.07}

Belle and Claire were sitting down watching Shawn work on the boat. Claire was getting restless and was trying to get up form Belle's lap. {03.06.07}

Belle got up and started yelling at Shawn about the boat and how she wasn't sure it was a good idea to get on a make shift boat in the middle of a storm. Shawn was trying to reassure Belle that it would be OK and that he would protect them both. {03.06.07}

Shawn sat with Claire while Belle was getting things together to get on the boat. What he didn't know was that Belle was listening to him talk to his daughter. {03.06.07}

Shawn told Claire a story about a little boy named Shawn. He told her that he was a little smaller than her that first time he went on a boat ride with his mom and dad. He was never scared because his mom and dad always protected him. He told her that he would always protect her and that she didn't need to worry because she was safe with him. Olivia/Ava was listening very closely and even talked back with Shawn. It was a very cute scene between father and daughter. The little faces that Claire was making were very cute too. {03.06.07}

Claire found something fun to play with while her mommy and daddy talked nice to one another for once. She was playing with Daddy's necklace. He didn't seem to mind and the scene just went on. {03.06.07}
