Debbie was the first teenager to play Melissa. She took over the role in 1978 after no one had been in the role for two years. She played Melissa continuously until 1980, but returned in 1982 for a short run.

This is probably one of the
only pictures in print of this little family, Melissa and
her birthparents Bob and Linda Anderson. They were only a
family for a short while and it was an off-again, on-again
family. Not a very happy home for a little girl to grow up
in. In 1978, Debbie starred in a
Disney movie called Hot Lead & Cold Feet.
