Lisa played Melissa from 1982-1988. She remains the best-known Melissa because she was in the role longer than any other actress. She was replaced by Camilla Scott in 1990, but returned to the role in 1994 and 1996 for short runs. You can find additional information on Lisa on Beth's Where are they Now? Page.

Lisa Trusel

Melissa Phillips Anderson

Lisa came to Days from the TV show, Father Murphy in 1982.

Lisa's talent as a dancer was incorporated into her storyline. Melissa became a famous dancer, performing routines across the country.

Lisa's most significant storyline as Melissa was her love story with Pete, played by Michael Leon. He was a bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks, but their love was undeniable.

In every good love story, there's a triangle love story. Ivy Selejko finished out their triangle. Pete went to Ivy on the rebound. Ivy got pregnant and gave birth to Pete's son, Charlie (CJ). This incident, plus Melissa's newfound love with her dance instructor, Lars, caused the end of Pete and Melissa.

In 1985 the lovely ladies of DAYS did their own version of a chorus line in their evening best. L-R Lisa, Shannon Tweed {Savannah}, Arleen Sorkin {Calliope}, Leann Hunley {Anna}, Patsy Pease {Kim} and Gloria Loring {Liz}.

Lisa posed with Al Rabin {Days producer and director} and Michael Leon for a photo.

Some of the cast hanging out at a Days picnic: bottom L-R: David Wallace (Tod, later Lisa's husband), Amy Stock (Britta), Lisa. Top L-R: Evelyn Jezek (Ken's wife, an under-five dancer on Days), Ken Jezek (Lars), Stephen Nichols (Steve "Patch" Johnson), and Pamela Kosh (Ms. Peach).

From left to right: Hope {Kristian Alfonso}, Bo {Peter Reckel}, Trista Bradford {Barbara Crampton} and Melissa Anderson.

Lisa and Kristian Alfonso had lots of fun hanging out together, both on the set and at various events. When Lisa was interviewed after leaving DAYS one question was "What are your favorite memories?" Lisa said, "Without a doubt my time with Kristian Alfonso. We laughed so much and so hard. We often were asked to leave during a scene and they had to come back to us. I couldn't even tell you why we were laughing, we just did."

Pete and Melissa and Maggie and Mickey wed in a double ceremony on Valentine's Days, 1986. It was the first time Days ever had a double wedding ceremony.

By mid-1986, nothing very happy went on in Melissa's life. Her marriage to Pete was on the rocks, as she got close to Lars, her dance partner and Pete became more attached to Ivy and his son.

One of the most special dances Lars and Melissa performed was at the Salem Centennial Celebration in early 1987. All of Salem watched their fantastic performance.

Melissa knee was injured in March of 1986 while dancing. Her career in dancing was ended. That ended her relationship with Lars as well.

After having such long hair in 1986, Melissa got a haircut in 1987. Then it kept getting shorter and shorter, until it was a bob when she left the show.

Days started with the first generation of Horton children and their trials and tribulations. By the late 80s, we were seeing their children, all grown up, with lives of their own. They were still dedicated to their family. Here, Melissa, Hope and Jennifer perform "My Gram" to the tune of "My Guy" for their Grandma's birthday. It was just one sign of how close the Hortons still are.

Here are a couple of Lisa's promotional pictures, used for auditioning.

Lisa posed with her on screen family members. Clockwise from Lisa, Jennifer {Missy Reeves}, Michael {Michael Weiss}, Tom {Macdonald Carey}, Sarah {Lisa Brinegar}, Alice {Frances Reid}, Maggie {Suzanne Rogers} and Mickey {John Clarke}.

Melissa married one of her DAYS co-stars David Wallace (Tod Chandler). Together they have four children: Ryan Elizabeth, Emma, Benjamin and Joseph.

Melissa came for a short visit in 1996 to see her cousin Hope get married. Melissa was very pregnant. Maggie was so excited to know she was becoming a grandma. Lisa said "I couldn't say no, when DAYS asked me to come back. I explained I was a little pregnant." When they asked how far along, she said laughing, "any day now."

Lisa and David lived in Nashville until a few years ago and are now back in Southern California. He works as an electrician, occassionally acting. She home-schools their four children.
