Jordan Michael Vance was cast in the role of Maddie after the casting director took one look at him. AMC was looking for a baby with dark hair and dark eyes, just like onscreen mother Maria. Jordan first aired on AMC when he was six weeks old and he played the role until he was about one. The role was recast since he was looking more like a boy. Everyone on the set loved working with Jordan. He always smiled, no matter how tired he was. {Info and photo on left from SOW, photo on right from SOD} |

Jordan appeared on the cover of Soap Opera Digest twice within the year he was on the show. That is definitely rare for a soap infant. He was part of a key storyline. Maddie was born when Maria delivered prematurely with Erica's help. Erica told Maria the baby had died. Soon Erica went overseas and came back with a baby she'd adopted, and named Sonya. That baby was actually Maddie. {Photos by Robert Milazzo, SOD 8/12/97 and SOD 6/24/97 } |

Since Jordan was only a single child playing the role of Maddie at such a young age, his time on the set was very limited, sometimes backup babies were needed. Here is Jordan {left} with Amanda Romele {right}, who was one of the backup babies in the role of Maddie. It is unclear if she ever appeared on camera in the role. {pic courtesy Amy} |

When Caroline (born 06 November 1983) took over the role of Bianca, it was the second soap she worked on. She made her TV debut on Ryan's Hope about a year earlier. Bianca helped her parents get back together, even if only for a short time, in 1990. The most notable storyline Caroline participated in was when Bianca became gravely ill after Travis gave her asprin. She developed Reyes' Syndrome and nearly died. |

Caroline was part of a fun event for Christmas, 1990. Caroline, Ashley Peldon (Marah, GL), Coutney Peldon (Ashley's sister, also an actress), and Kerri Ann Darling (Alli, AW) were sent to FAO Schwartz in NYC to play and do a photo shoot. The girls posed with all sorts of fun things. {Photos from SOU Dec. 24, 1990} |

Amir is the best known actor in the role of Jamal. The boy appeared on the show as a orphan runaway. He was taken in by Tom Cudahy and Livia Frye. It was later revealed that he was Alec McIntyre's son with Janeen Wilson. A custody battle followed, but eventually Jamal chose to be with Tom and Livia. {photo on right courtesy Amy} |

The Hubbards were one of the first intact African American families on daytime. Jesse (Darnell Williams) and Angie (Debbie Morgan) were an incredibly popular couple and having a child didn't diminish their appeal. |
