Peter has never been a regular character, until his 2002 storyline with Kendall as his nanny. Consequently, most of the time Petey was needed in the 90s, a new actor had to be cast because previous actors had moved on to other roles. This Petey was seen in October and December 1998. It's not clear if he aired at any other times. {photos courtesy Dazzling Stars} |

Colby was shown nearly every day during the custody battle between Jake and Liza, so AMC needed a child or children who they could use on a regular basis. This Colby was cast shortly before the custody battle, early in 2000, and was replaced shortly after the battle was over in March. Most likely, triplets were used in the role because of the amount of screen time needed for Colby. However, this is just a guess. |

Jake {Michael Lowry} and Liza {Marcy Walker} both loved Colby and wanted custody of her. Jake wanted to Colby to be a part of his family with his wife Gillian, while Liza wanted Colby to be part of her family with Adam. When it was revealed that Jake wasn't actually Colby's father, Jake decided to do what was best for her and give her to Liza. |

Lorenzo was played by four different infants during the hospital scenes following his birth. None of the infants were related. This interesting casting approach was due to New York guidelines from child welfare. Babies under 3 months will not be issued work permits. Casting directors typically call agents looking for premature babies who are 3 months or older (and are still small) or for babies who are just about to turn 3 months. If a 3 month old is not available, they may use a newborn for the newborn scenes in the hospital, but immediately recast the child for future scenes, using an older baby/babies. It is believed that the three babies pictured above and to the left are indeed different children, but it's always hard to tell for sure. |

Leora was born prematurely to David Hayward and Anna Devane. Her father is a world-renowned heart surgeon, who was the only doctor capable of performing in-utero surgery to fix a heart defect. She came into the world with her parents unsure of her health. However, she appeared to be perfectly healthy at birth. Days later, David learned the reality that her heart was still not working properly. Her parents would be faced with a decision about installing a pacemaker to regulate her heart. Leora was played by two premature identical sisters, (Hailey and Elizabeth) who also have a brother (Joseph). While it seems only the girls were used onscreen, the triplets were cast to take advantage of the additional screen time. |
