Unknown actor/actresses
Miranda Mona Montgomery AKA Elizabeth "Bess" Miranda Chandler
March 19, 2004-August 2004

We are unsure on who the baby actor/actresses are who played baby Miranda/Bess. We know at least 4 different looking babies who played the part. We are unaware if any of them are related to one another. Until we find out for sure who is who we will list all Miranda/Bess photos in order of appearance. If you have any information on any of the young actor or actresses in these roles, please contact us. To see the children who later played Miranda, please visit their sites: Raymond and Joseph Cartigiano and Haley Evans.

In March 2004, AMC and OLTL launched a storyline unlike any other on the soaps. It began on All My Children and then moved to One Life to Live. Then for about two weeks, it was told on both shows simultaneously. This was the ad that was in magazines for the storyline. It featured two babies and the tag "Stolen at Birth." From what we can tell, neither of these babies actually appeared on OLTL or AMC. The were just used for the promo.

Bianca gave birth to a baby girl on March 19, 2004. She named her Miranda Mona Montgomery, Mona is after her grandmother on her mother's side. During the first few hours of Miranda's life she bonded with her mother Bianca. {pics courtesy Plasma, L--3.19.04, R--3.23.0}

Babe and Bianca were stranded together in a cabin during a storm when they both went into labor. Babe helped deliver Miranda. Then Paul Cramer (Babe's ex-husband and a medical helicoper pilot) arrived to rescue them. He was just in time to help Babe deliver her baby boy. The whole time, Bianca was unconcious, bleeding heavily from Miranda's birth. {Pictures on right courtesy kidsofdaysanpassion, 3.23.04, pic on left courtesy Plasma, 3.19.04}

Bianca bonds with her daughter. This young actor/actress was in a few different scenes as Miranda. {3.22.04}

Paul prepares to get everyone to safety, but instead he stages a helicoper crash and tells Babe her baby is dead. At the hospital he changes the story and tells everyone that Bianca's baby died and that Babe's baby girl is alive. In reality, he left the baby boy at the cabin in an incubator so his sister, Kelly, who desperately wanted a child (she'd recently miscarried) could have the baby. Since Paul was the only one besides Babe that knew the baby was a boy and not a girl, he was able to change his story when Adam Chandler threated his life if anything happened to his grandchild. Babe got very ill after the birth of the baby and forgot what gender her baby was. At least everyone thought she forgot. But, she kept telling everyone she had a boy, and no one believed her. They kept telling her it was a girl not a boy. {pic courtesy mommyof6}

Bianca took Bess from the hospital. She went to her mother's penthouse with the baby that she believed was Miranda (of course she was). She was devastated when she was told her baby was dead. Bianca felt in her heart that Bess was her daughter. She later returned the baby unharmed to J.R. and Babe. She even baptised the baby a week or so later and was named the baby's godmother. {pic on left, 4.13.04, pic on right, 4.19.04, courtesy Plasma}

J.R. and Babe were very relieved to get their baby back in their arms. They were sure that Bianca wouldn't harm the baby, but they still wanted their baby back. Even though the baby really did belong with Bianca, no one except Babe's mom knew the truth about the baby. {pics courtesy mommyof6}

Just before Babe and JR's wedding, Babe put two and two together and figured out that the baby that she had was really Miranda Montgomery and that her baby must have been the baby that died. Babe knows if she tells JR the truth that she will lose her daughter and her husband. Babe has chosen to keep the secert from her best friend Bianca and let her believe her daughter is dead. She was talking to "Miranda" and called her Miranda out loud as Kendall walked into the room. Kendall knows this baby is her sister's but she hasn't been able to prove it. Babe is very afraid that Kendall will figure it all out soon.

These two babies look nothing alike, but like many soaps, AMC used the best baby for the scene and at one moment it was the baby above with the big eyes and dark hair. In the next scene it was the sleeping baby with no hair.

JR is trying to take Bess away from Babe, by telling lies about Babe's parenting skills. Babe is a really good mom, but JR wants his daughter all to himself. He doesn't like that she slept around with his brother and lied about the validity of their marriage. Babe has no idea what JR is up to. She loves JR and wants everything to be perfect. She thinks she can live the perfect life with JR and Bess.

Bess laid in her crib very content. The baby wasn't shown in anyone's arms during any of these scenes, so some of the clips might have been edited in. But, at some parts she was really in the crib because you could hear her making noise. Her birthmother, Bianca, and Babe were talking back and forth about how Babe should allow David into her life to be the father that Babe never knew. Bianca tried to tell her that he really is a great guy. The truth had just come out that David is Babe's father. {7-8-2004}

Paul met Bess again in July 2004.

In yet another one of J.R.'s plots to prove that Babe was a bad mother, he staged a kidnapping during a nice family picnic in the park. He sent a young boy over to distract Babe, while he came by and took Bess, as she lay sleeping in her carseat. {July 2004}

J.R. does seem to really love Bess, but it's for all the wrong reasons. He just wants revenge on Babe. This little girl is stuck in the middle and she doesn't belong to either one of them. {pic courtesy mommyof6}

Spike Lavery
2006

Spike was played by an unknown number of children his first few months. They were often wearing hats, which were most likely hiding hair that some babies had and others didn't.
