Raymond
Michael and Joseph Raymond Cartigiano, Jr. were born on
February 15, 2004. They took over the role of Elizabeth
"Bess" Chandler in July, 2004 and began appearing onscreen
in August. They continued on in the role of Miranda Mona
Montgomery when it was proved that Bess was actually the
daughter of Bianca Montgomery, who had been presumed
dead.

Raymond and Joseph auditioned for the role of Bess/Miranda when they were four months old. A screen test was required to see if the audience members could realize that the babies were switched during the show. The boys were cast the very next day. {info from "Inside Out," Staten Island Advance, 1.4.05} |

Jamie and
Bianca took Bess to Tad's for safekeeping. JR eventually got
out of the loony bin and headed straight to Tad's, wanting
his daughter back. David, Tad and Jamie all told JR that
he'd have to go through them. Bianca held Bess closely. When
JR brushes past the men telling them they can't stop him
from seeing his daughter. Bianca adamantly tells JR, "I can
and I will! You'll take this baby over my dead body!"
Joseph/Raymond was asleep at first, which is rare for the
boys. Then Bess was wide awake in the next scene. Was it a
baby switch? {9.14.04,

makes her claim, the front door opens. Babe is back. Babe
starts to talk, but David cuts her off. He tells everyone
Babe has an announcement that will change all their lives.
David and Krystal promise to be there for her. Everyone
except JR says the same without knowing what the
announcement will be. Taking a deep breath, Babe tells them
she has decided she needs to stay with JR, so there will be
no divorce. Bess has had a long day. Babe thinks it's time
to get her home and to bed. Obviously hurting, Babe goes
back inside. As she takes Bess from Bianca, she tells her
she knows it makes no sense right now but promises a happy
ending "for all of us."
