On April 23, 1986, Lindsey appeared in a TV movie that would set the standard for the genre of "heart-tugging dramas." Alex: Life of a Child is a fact-based story about "Sports Illustrated" writer, Frank Deford (Craig T. Nelson) and his wife's (Bonnie Bedelia) tumultuous life as result of their daughter's (Lindsey at age 3-5, Gennie James at age 6-8) bout with cystic fibrosis and subsequent death at age 8. But this film goes beyond the obvious disease of the week, as it follows the two parent's recovery from their child's death. Then they weigh whether or not to adopt a child, struggling to determine if they are betraying their child's memory. {pics courtesy childstarlets} |
