Kirk {l} and Robert {r} were born on June 6, 1987. They were about 14 months old when they took over the role in 1988. In 1988 SOU asked their mom, who is also their agent, "Who is the better baby?" Shirley of course couldn't really say. She said that Robert doesn't like the playpen much and when the scene calls for him to sit quietly and play in it, he isn't too happy. Hence, Kirk is the star for playpen scenes. |

In 1988 Robert graced the cover of SOU with on-screen dad James DePaiva {Max}. Kirk was shown inside with James. During their time on the show, the boys developed their own "groupies" who would wait outside the studio. Their mom often ended up signing autographs for the boys. |

Twins are cast in the role of a baby for one reason, if one of them isn't happy, they use the other child. As in this case, Robert would have been the star in the show and Kirk would have stayed back with mom to be calmed down. James DePaiva {Max} looks like he was having fun holding one happy baby {Robert} and one unhappy baby {Kirk}. |

Robert/Kirk shown with on-screen mom Gabrielle {Fiona Hutchison}. Max and Gabby had several custody fights over Al, where each time someone else got custody. Al was kidnapped by the Whymans, a couple who sold babies on the black market. Max was willing to pay any price for Al's return and eventually he was brought back. {Air date left capture: 5/88, right capture: 9/88. The boys are now 17 years old {as of 2004} and are active in drama and stage production at school. They only remember bits and pieces of their experience with playing baby Al. After leaving OLTL, they appeared in 3 commercials and that was the end of their professional career. {photo and info courtesy the Raisch family} |

Alex (left, above and right) and Brittany (right, above and right) Smith played Jessica for a short time in 1988 when they were three years old. Today, the 15 year olds are still acting and singing. They have graced the pages of Teen Vogue and German Elle and are currently the spokesmodels for John Frieda. They were extras on Guiding Light last year and Brittany appeared as a guest at Bianca's birthday party on All My Children. They have few memories of their time on OLTL. Alex says, "In the Halloween episode, I remember being held by one of the stars who was dressed up as a witch....I was afraid." Brittany has heard stories of how terrible they were with their fans. {info and pics courtesy SOD, 2001) |

Jessica had to deal with death when she was just a little girl. At first Cord was thought to be dead and later she needed to face a painful goodbye with her dying sister Megan. Jessica accidentally set Llanfiar on fire, but fortunately no one was hurt. Jessica was extremely upset when Clint and Viki were divorced and always hoped that they would get back together some day. Matthew was conceived while Nora was still married to Bo. Her plan was to give Bo another child after his son Drew died. However Nora was led to believe Bo was sterile, so she asked Sam to sleep with her and let her raise the child with Bo. |
|
|
|
The truth came out and Bo left Nora and Matthew. Sam supported her through out the pregnancy and carried her in a snowstorm to the hospital to deliver Matthew. When it turned out Bo wasn't sterile, they ran a DNA test to show who was his father. Linsdsay tampered with the results. Eventually we learned Sam was the father. |

In order to get back at Max, RJ Gannon ordered Max's twins kidnapped. He had no idea what the guys who kidnapped them meant to do with them. They were sold to a Canadian family and the kidnappers faked their death. Max didn't believe that his kids were dead and didn't rest until they were found in Canada. Later on they went to live with Luna's family in NC. |
