Danielle Marie Dierkes
Samantha Wainwright
18 June 1987 - 13 December 1988

Mason and Julia had a child as part of a business arrangement. Julia wanted a child, but didn't want the frustrations of a relationship. As legal partners, the pair decided they could have a child with no strings attached. {pics courtesy Vera, 6/18/87}

Julia had lots of support when Samantha was born. Friends Cruz and Eden helped her out, as did Samantha's grandfather, CC. {pics courtesy Vera, late July 1987}

Mason was kidnapped by his sister, Elena Nikolas. Julia and Jeffrey Conrad found out where he was being held and brought him back to Santa Barbara. After saving Mason`s life Julia was happy to return to her baby girl. {pics courtesy Vera, 10/1/87}

Mason did his best to support Julia and Samantha, without living with them. He wasn't a constant presence for Sam, so he wasn't always able to calm her down when she cried. {pics courtesy Vera, 11/5/87}

Once during taping Danielle pulled and chewed Pamela's veil off her face, so they had to stop and retape the scene. {photo courtesy Vera, pic on right 11/2/87}

When Samantha was an infant, Julia and Mason couldn't fight their attraction anymore. Mason decided it was time for Samantha to play a larger role in his life as well. Danielle was a petite little girl. She was old enough to chew on teething biscuits at this age (about 8 months), but looked much younger because of her small size. She wasn't bigger than many 5 month olds. {pic on left 12/30/87}

In early 1988, Mason finally left Tori to be with Julia. He was essentially choosing one child over another. It would still be several months before he discovered that he wasn't Chip's father. The newly united family took a family photo. {pics courtesy Vera, left--1/21/88, right--1/20/88}

Mason was presumed dead in a fire in the spring of 1988. Julia was left alone again with her daughter. However, she soon began to wonder if Mason could still be alive. She decided she needed to investigate the possibility, so she left Samantha with the Capwells. She had a hard time saying goodbye to her little girl. {pics courtesy Vera, 6/16/88}

Danielle was a red-headed infant, but became a blonde when she was a toddler. {pics courtesy Vera, left--7/18/88, right--9/5/88}

Danielle was born April 26, 1987 and got into showbiz when she was 4 weeks old. A neighbor who is a children's talent agent told her parents SB needed a baby on the set in 4 days. She immediately got the role. As a toddler, her favorite foods were green beans, cantaloupe and peas. She loved working with Nancy Grahn (Julia). {Photo by Clark Crouse, info from SOD 5/31/88, photo on right courtesy Vera, 9/21/88}

Julia was the first person Eden told, when she found out she was pregnant. Eden wanted practice by holding Samantha, but Danielle didn't like being with a stranger. She held her arms out to Nancy, who finished the scene holding Danielle. {pics courtesy Vera, 9/8/88}

Mason wanted to take Samantha for a walk on the beach. Julia didn't want to leave Mason (Sonny) alone with Samantha, so she went along too. {pics courtesy Vera, 10/13/88}

In late November, 1988 Zack Kelton kidnapped Julia, as part of his continued stalking of the women in Santa Barbara. However, when he took Julia, he also took Samantha. Not wanting to deal with the little girl, he dropped her off at the church, knowing Father Michael would find her. He eventually realized that something must be wrong with Julia. He saved her from Zack a few days later. In the meantime, Samantha spent some time with Michael, Heather, and Scott. {pics courtesy Vera, 11/29/88}

Samantha was christened after she was reunited with Julia. Danielle's last appearance as Samantha. She was replaced with Erin and Caitlin Moore about two weeks later. {pics courtesy Vera, 12/13/88}
